This week’s been a busy and buzzy one for beauty. From new releases to think pieces, here are just a few of the things that had happened.
Dose of Colors x Mickey Mouse
It’s Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary, so it’s no surprise that there are collaborations with Disney for the character everywhere. The latest one to be announced is with Dose of Colors, which to be honest, was quite a surprise for me. Dose of Colors has an indie cool vibe to them that I never really thought they’d partner up with something perceived as sweet or cute. Nonetheless, the collection looks nice. It’s like a grown-up version of Mickey Mouse’s colors. I dig it.
Bretman Rock x Colourpop
I think the concept of Pinoy pride is, for a lack of a better word, stupid. But I do appreciate that Bretman Rock was inspired by his heritage when he created his line with Colourpop Cosmetics. I also liked that he wore a barong and a terno for the campaign photos.
In defense of the selfie
It’s been years since I’ve gotten over my fondness for taking selfies (and self-portraits), but Sable Yong makes a case for ending the stigma against selfies and vanity in general. Give it a read here.
