When I started getting re-acquainted with makeup, the first product I purchased was a lip product. I’m a firm believer that a lip color could change a look, and that swiping a bold color onto your lips can make you look made-up even if you have nothing else on.
I’m all about maximizing the product I pay for so I scoured for something that works well but doesn’t cost as much. That’s where the Essence Longlasting Lipstick came in.
If you’re a fan of minimalist design, this range will catch your eye. The product comes in a sleek black packaging, with a color band in the middle of the tube, which I think is a clever idea and would come in handy if you own a lot of lipsticks from the range.
Natural Beauty is an MLBB (with a tinge of pink) shade for me. Wear Berries, on the other hand, is my pick for days when I want more color but nothing of the bold variety.
The Essence Longlasting Lipstick has a creamy texture and glides on smoothly on the lips. It’s moisturizing enough that you wouldn’t need a lip balm underneath even if you forget to exfoliate. It’s not very opaque — one swipe could already do the trick if you want just a tint but since it’s very moisturizing, I don’t mind putting on another layer (or two).
The scent reminds me of the ones my mother used to use when I was younger. It’s a tad floral but nothing off-puting.
As for its long-lasting promise, I would say that the product lives up to its claim. If you’re not gonna eat or drink with it on, it will stay put for 4 to 6 hours. A re-application is necessary for when you use this after eating because it flakes.
