Welcome to Mad Cherry! This site started as an extension of my perpetually on-hiatus online clothing store. (Read about my decision to say hello to blogging instead of trying to make the business stay afloat here. If you don't want to switch tabs, read on.) From a beauty blog, it has now turned into this. But what is this? In a nutshell, Mad Cherry is a space for the curious.

What can you expect from this blog?

My vision is for this space to be the go-to for any woman (or man) who wants honest, informative, and entertaining content about beauty, fashion, and living.

The blog is sectioned into three main categories: Living and Culture, Beauty and Fashion, and Career and Finance.

I've been writing for the web since 2009 and I've learned a thing or two about content for the Internet. Writing has always been one of my strongest passions, and I want to start talking about it and not just do it. If you want to write — for the web or in general — I'll be giving out tips and tricks.

There will still be lots of reviews, but now they won't be limited to just beauty products. I (and my husband, from time to time) will review services, series, books, and just about anything that tickles my (or our) fancy.

So this space, to sum it up, is a portion of my mind and life.

Who's behind the blog?

I'm Jorj, and I work as a fashion and beauty editor. You'd think I'd be sick of words after office hours — Well, I don't exactly go to the office. I work at home! — but I'm not. I still have lots of story ideas, and I don't want them to remain in my head. As mentioned, I've been writing for the web since 2009. I've written about a lot of things, but this is where I write about things that I'm genuinely curious about.

This blog remains my creative outlet, but from time to time you'd see a post from my husband, Youghp, who also works as an editor. 

Why Mad Cherry?

One day my husband and I were watching TV. The woman from the local channel which shows U.S. programs via satellite was talking about "match airing," meaning the shows would air here the same time it goes live in the states. Puzzled, my husband asked, "Babe, what's mad cherry?"

The misheard phrase became an inside joke (that you now know about). I decided to use it for my business because it had a ring to it. Plus, I liked the idea of being a mad cherry. To me, the phrase depicts a person with fiery passion.

It also reminds me of this quote:

“the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars.”
